There are so many talented musicians in Vancouver and we wanted to highlight as many of them as we can! We summoned some demons together and chatted with Thirteen Goats.
1: Describe your sound for those who haven’t heard you?
We say we're a mix of extreme metal subgenres on an OSDM foundation—with hints of tech death, black metal, groove metal, melodeath, and grindcore. But The Georgia Straight described our sound as "Vulgar Display of Power-era Pantera in a cage match with Cannibal Corpse and Ministry", which we feel is pretty accurate.
2: One of your memories of being in the Vancouver music scene?
Um, I'll never forget going to my bud Colton's birthday show a few months ago and popping my shoulder out in the mosh pit. You were there! Anyway, it just goes to show: the local crowd here goes hard.
3: Who is one of your favourite local bands?
There are tons of great acts in this city, so it's hard to pick just one. But we're all big fans of Blackwater Burial. We opened for those guys at our very first gig ever, and on top of being incredible musicians, they're just straight-up good guys. Eli and Jacob in particular have always been really cool to us.
4: What's coming up for you?
We've got a show at The Wise Hall on December 17th, opening up MVLGRAVE's EP release party with Expain, Paramnesia, and Futile Mutations. It's gonna be a fuckin' banger.
We're also writing new material for our second full-length record. Come to the show, and you might just get to hear a new song or two!
5: Where can people find you?
In the fiery pits of hell, in the chaos of the cosmos, and on all major streaming platforms.
