Support the Scene is back and ready to introduce you to some of the amazing local talent we have here, and to reacquaint you with some of your favourites. We have such an incredible music scene here in the GVA, and there are so many amazing artists just waiting for you to check them out. So, after an intensely hot and busy summer, some of our talented local artists found time to answer a few of our questions.
Check out what Matthew Presidente had to say!
Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?
I’m a queer themed pianist/singer/songwriter from here in Vancouver. Indie rock at the piano - think classics like Elton John, Bowie, Springsteen but with a modern twist.
Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?
Being able to perform my music around the province at various Pride festivals and events.
Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?
The Roxy - Downtown Vancouver, BC.
Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?
These days it’s digital - that’s how most music is consumed. Although I have always liked CDs because they are a nice, compact physical version of the music that is inexpensive to produce and artists can still make a decent profit selling them at shows.
Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?
I like going to see the band Runner!
Q: What’s coming up next for your music?

After 7 singles out so far, my new record is almost ready to be released later this year! It’s recorded with my full band and nicely produced. I think it has some of my best material ever.
