Best In Vancouver - Midmay

Updated: Nov 1, 2022

The Best In Vancouver competition is back this year, bigger than ever! We sat down with Midmay to get their insights into their thoughts on the competition.

1: Describe your sound for those who haven’t heard you?

Midmay’s sound is a mix of influences from Stevie Wonder and Antonio Carlos Jobim to Joji and SZA resulting in pop with a little jazz injection and a focus on vocal harmonies and simple arrangement of instruments.

2: How do you stand out from the other bands in this competition?

Having a focus on writing vocal harmony and playing between our voices definitely makes us stand out from the other bands in this competition. We hope people will enjoy what we can achieve with a small arrangement, and hear the potential of the songs.

3: Who is one of your favorite local bands?

It’s so hard to pick just one, but a few of our favorites are, The Lily Dippers, Uncle Strut, Dust Cwaine, Highland Eyeways and Teon Gibbs

4: Where can people find you? What are your social media links?

You can find us here:

5: If you win, which prize are you most excited about?

We are most excited about the chance to get in some studio time. We have been doing a bit of home recording, but recording in studio would be a very nice change of pace. Collaborating with a engineer to make great representations of our songs is a very exciting proposition as well..
