Canadian Music Week is coming up and we had a chance to chat with some of the bands! We hung out with Innes Wilson in a hot tub in the middle of a blizzard and chatted about Canadian Music Week.
1: Describe your sound for those who haven’t heard you?
We really have a hard time defining our sound. But we have been compared to a modern Blue Rodeo or Lo-fi Wilco. Really our musical influences are what we pull from in our song writing. Super eclectic overall but we draw from 70's alt country, 90's americana with grunge or pop influences.
2: What is your favourite part of Canadian Music Week?
It's a whole week celebrating Canadian music! Putting bands like ours in a great position to meet similar artists and bands we might not have heard of and building those connections is what we really look forward too. Also getting an opportunity to share our music with potentially a bigger audience and soaking in the information at the conferences are excellent highlights that really make Canadian Music Week a stellar event.
3: Who is one of your favourite local bands?
This is a hard one to narrow down to just one artist. We have shared the stage with some very talented artists, and over the years some of my best friends bands are doing really well and i've always been their biggest fans. And it's not just about music its also the community and integrity they uphold in their art. So can't narrow it down to just one!
4: Whats coming up for you?
Well our new EP "Innes Wilson's FreightLiner II" will be out April 21, and we will be having our album release show during GAIN Fest on April 29 in Guelph ON. Obviously we have CMW lined up for June and at this moment we have a good pile of shows all around Ontario booked up to then. With the new EP we will be putting out some fun videos to go along with the singles. Finally we have our next record written and will be recording it this year with a special single slated for October.
5: Where can people find you? What are your social media links?
Our Linktree is the best: https://linktr.ee/inneswilson
Or Bandcamp: https://inneswilson.bandcamp.com/
But it's always best to come and say hi at a live show. All my upcoming dates can be found on jeffeagermusic.com
