Enigma is putting on their first music festival this year in Penticton and Kelowna. They have a killer line up and are also featuring some local Drag Performers! Go see both their nights on April 7th and 8th! We chatted with The Flannel Contract about their upcoming performance at 3N1GMATIC Music Fest 2023! 1: Describe your sound for those who haven’t heard you?
We call our music Okanagan Rock, a cross-genre style made up of influences in the garage and post-punk scenes. Every song has its own sound varying from funk, old school punk and heavy rock.
2: Will this be the first time you’ve shared the stage with Drag Performers? What do you think of involving them in the music festival?
This will be TFC's first time sharing the stage with drag performers and we could not be more excited. We got our start at an open mic famous for encouraging any and all performance art styles. TFC is all about community and collaboration.
3: Who is one of your favourite local bands?
Penticton local is Bob Law. Super fun rival trio who are always a blast to share the stage with. Okanagan locals would be High Horse, Storm the Empire, or Pharm. Insanely talented musicians who all do so much for the Okanagan music scene.
4: What's a memorable tale from one of your shows?
One favorite show story was the second annual flannel fundraiser that we held on the Big F's birthday. I promised to do a shoey if we raised twice as much as the year before and at the end of the show before all the donations we even counted I was told we brought in over three times the amount. It was both the best and worst beer I've ever had.
Another would be playing Rib Fest in Penticton on the Animal's birthday, wherein the Big F and Harls gifted our bass player with a new 5-string bass on stage and made him shed a tear in front of everyone. Very wholesome stuff.
